Touch Windows 8

Release of Windows 8 is the latest development in I.T market. So I decided to give a small and simple review for all those eagerly waited Windows Lovers and Windows Haters. Yup, Windows 8 has a criticizing part also which will be a good news for the later group. But, we have to expect a boom in Microsoft sale chart with this Windows 8 bargaining chip as it is just amazing !!

THIS IS HOW WINDOWS FEELS AND LOOK LIKE ....

Usually Microsoft aimed at P's and laptops with Windows OS launch. This time they made their new chip Windows 8  to compete with tablet OS industry where already Android and IOS have gained their seat. Windows 8 has got a vanilla kind basic version, Windows Pro version, Enterprise version and RT version.

Windows PRO version is the first one in the market where it has got all the qualities of Windows 8. Windows Enterprise version aims at system administrators and all with volume licencing. Windows 8 is kinda vanilla version with basic features. For home geeks Windows PRO is the one which will be useful. Windows RT aims particularly at the Tablets and Computers which run on ARM Processors. It's variety of apps availability are limited as Microsoft forces us to use only their products through window store. That means, You can't run Firefox,Safari,VLC media player etc. in RT version. It aims fully at winning the hearts of Tablet Industry.

They are saying that all those PC's that runs windows 7 can be successfully installed with Windows 8. Requirements are same of Windows 7. To be more specific "1GHz or faster processor, 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit), 16GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20GB (64-bit), DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver. For Modern UI apps a screen with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels is mandatory."

First class Touch along with the usage of keyboard and mouse adds up the strength of the new rivalry in the market. It has got start up speed twice as fast as it's earlier version along with greater security with the features of inbuilt antivirus protection and all. Along with that a new kind of security using digital signature which couples the OS and the booting sector ensures the avoidance of threat of boot infections like "bootkit". The OS also comes along the Sky Drive Integration which make use of cloud services.

Apart from buying from the new range of Windows 8 devices, users can also upgrade their current PCs to Windows 8. From 2nd June 2012 until 31st January 2013, users currently running PCs with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 are qualified to download Windows 8 Pro for an estimated price of Rs. 1,999. Those who wish to buy a DVD to upgrade will have to pay Rs. 3,499. This offer is valid until January 31, 2013. After that the OS is expected to be priced above Rs. 11,000.

Any Windows 7 PCs purchased between June 2, 2012, and January 31, 2013, are also eligible to get a Windows 8 Pro update for an estimated price of Rs. 699 with the Windows Upgrade Offer, available at www.windowsupgradeoffer.com.

Coming to the negatives I have to say that, who have been loving Windows 7 will find it difficult to like Windows 8 as it focuses on touch. Because the tiled view at the desktop and the lack of start button all creates a mess in revised using of mouse and keyboard. One more which is obvious, as this new OS is also sticking on it's proprietary system it has got it's limits of variety apps and free form usage compared to Open Source. This thing can be experienced when one uses Windows RT version. So for desktop users buying Windows 8 would be a risk as there's only 50-50 chance of loving it.
