Interesting Facts of Expired Mayan Calendar !! :-D

So besides medical pills, mayans proved that calendars also has got it's expiry date. Let's get into some interesting facts of this controversial calendar.

Actually mayan civilization invented this calendar and still it's been used by some mayan communities. So what calendar will they follow after Dec 21 2012.. That's upto their desire...whether to follow english calendar or any other cultural calenders. Anyways one thing I'am pretty sure is that at the nyt of Dec 21 2012..they would have enjoyed of getting rid of their cultural fear.

The Mayan Calendar consists of three separate corresponding calendars, the Long Count, the Tzolkin(divine calendar) and the Haab (civil calendar). Time is cyclical in the calendars and a set number of days must occur before a new cycle can begin. The three calendars are used simultaneously. The Tzolkin and the Haab identify and name the days, but not the years. The Long Count date comes first, then the Tzolkin date and last the Haab date. A typical Mayan date would read: 13.0.0.0.0 4 Ahau 8 Kumku, where 13.0.0.0.0 is the Long Count date, 4 Ahau is the Tzolkin date and 8 Kumku is the Haab date.

This replica of a Mayan Calendar Round represents September 21, 2004, the opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall. The calendar round is actually two separate calendars, or cycles, one cycle governs religious practices (260 days) and the other governs agricultural work (365 days).

According to mayans their calendar comes to an end on Dec21 2012 and the earth will perish based on some meteorate crash or flood or fire..

U.S.A space research centre NASA announced the "not occurrence" of world end, 10 days before the Dec 21.
